Chris can visit you and your child at a location convenient for you - at home, school/nursery or any other relevant location.
He will discuss your child's communication difficulty with you and take some background information about your child and their development.
Chris will then assess your child's communication skills through play, formal and/or informal assessment. This will involve a session lasting approximately 60-90 minutes.
A short report of the assessment session will be provided if necessary.
If further intervention is needed to help your child, Chris will discuss with you any intervention or management that is needed. This may be further therapy sessions, including suggestions and strategies to help encourage your child's speech and/or language.
Therapy sessions will always be tailored to the individual needs of the child, their abilities and parental involvement, however a course of therapy may be six sessions.
If your child is currently seeing an NHS Speech and Language Therapist, Chris will work with that therapist to provide additional but cohesive therapy.
The use of an Independent Speech and Language Therapist is in addition to the NHS provision. It does not affect their entitlement to NHS resources.
